The difference

We do not stop at the building wall

Most low voltage contractors will run fiber inside a building all day and then go quiet the moment the path leaves the structure. Outside plant gets subbed out, and now your one project has two companies, two schedules, and a seam in the middle where nobody owns the problem.

We have direct burial and aerial infrastructure experience, which means we can carry the run the whole way. Closet, entry point, trench or pole line, entry point, closet. One walkthrough, one scope, one crew answering for the link end to end.

Underground and overhead are both on the table. If your two buildings are separated by a parking lot, a drive, or a few hundred feet of grass, the honest answer to "can this be done" usually depends on the path, not the fiber. That is what the walkthrough is for.

Plain language

Single-mode or multimode, explained without the sales pitch

You do not need to know optics to buy fiber correctly. You need to know two things: how far the light has to travel, and how long you intend to live with the decision.

Multimode

Wider glass core, shorter reach, cheaper electronics on both ends. It is the normal choice for runs inside a single building, floor to floor or closet to closet, where you are covering a few hundred meters at most. If the distance is short and the budget matters, multimode is not a compromise, it is the right tool.

Single-mode

Narrower core, far longer reach, and far more headroom for future bandwidth. This is what goes between buildings, across a campus, or anywhere a trench is involved. The cable itself costs little more than multimode, and the expensive part of an outside run is never the cable, it is the digging.

The rule we actually use: if the fiber is going outside or into the ground, we lean single-mode, because you only pay to open that path once. Inside a building, we scope whichever one your distances and equipment call for and tell you why.

What a fiber walkthrough looks at

Fiber quotes go wrong when they are built from a site plan. The path is the project, and you cannot see the path from a drawing.

The path

Where the run can physically go. Trench route, pole line, obstacles, drives and lots to cross, landscaping and pavement in the way.

Conduit and entry points

Existing conduit and whether it is usable or already packed. How we get through each building wall, and where the fiber lands inside.

Real distances

Measured, not estimated. Distance drives single-mode versus multimode, splice count, and whether the electronics you own will work.

Splice, test, document

Terminations made, every run labeled at both ends, performance tested, and the results handed over with the job.

Fiber optic questions we get

Do I need single-mode or multimode fiber?

The short version is distance. Multimode is the usual choice inside one building, between floors or between closets, where runs are a few hundred meters and the electronics are cheaper. Single-mode carries much farther, so it is what you want between buildings, across a campus, or anywhere you might want more bandwidth later without pulling new glass. When the cost difference is small we often recommend single-mode for outside runs simply because you only get to trench once.

Can you do direct burial and aerial fiber, or only inside runs?

Both. We have direct burial and aerial infrastructure experience, which matters because most low voltage contractors stop at the building wall and hand the outside portion to somebody else. That handoff is where schedules slip and responsibility gets fuzzy. We can take the run from the closet in one building, out through the entry point, underground or overhead, and into the closet on the other end.

What happens during a fiber walkthrough?

We walk the actual path the fiber has to take. That means measuring real distances rather than reading a site plan, finding existing conduit and confirming whether it is usable or full, identifying building entry points and how we get through the wall, checking pole access or trench route for outside runs, and looking at where the fiber lands in each closet. Photos and measurements from that visit are what the scope and the number are built on.

Do you splice existing fiber or only install new runs?

Both. We splice and terminate, whether that is bringing a new run into an existing panel, repairing a damaged segment, or extending glass that a previous contractor left short. If you have fiber in the ground and no idea what condition it is in, testing it is usually cheaper than assuming the worst and replacing it.

How do I know the fiber actually performs after it is installed?

Because we test it and give you the results. Every run is labeled at both ends and tested to verify it performs at the required level, so you are not taking our word for it and neither is the next contractor who touches the system. Fiber problems are almost always at the ends, in the splice or the connector, and testing is what separates a link that works from a link that works today.
