Every access control failure we get called out to is a wiring failure. The reader is fine. The controller is fine. The cable between them was run through a door hinge, or landed on the wrong conductor, or was never labeled so nobody can tell which door is which.
That is why this belongs with a low voltage contractor rather than a locksmith who also sells hardware. We are already pulling cable in your ceiling, we already terminate and test everything we install, and we already document what landed where. Access control is the same discipline applied to a door.

Usually not. Most commercial doors accept an electric strike or a maglock without being replaced. What decides it is the frame, the existing hardware and whether the door is fire-rated. That is one of the things we check on the walkthrough, because it is the single biggest swing in what a door costs to bring under access control.
Cloud-managed platforms carry a licence per door, which is what pays for the software, the updates and the hosting that replace an on-site server. That is a manufacturer licence rather than a monitoring contract with us. We do not add a recurring bill of our own on top of it, and we will tell you what the licence costs before you commit.
Sometimes. It depends on the credential format your current cards use. Bring one to the walkthrough and we can usually tell you on the spot. Where the old format cannot be carried over, most sites move to phone-based credentials anyway, which removes the reissue problem entirely.
Doors keep working. The controller holds the permissions locally and continues to grant and deny access on its own. What you lose until the connection returns is remote management and live event reporting, not the ability to get through the door.
Yes, though the two usually belong on the same visit. If your cabling is already in good order we work with what is there. If we are opening the ceiling anyway for drops or cameras, doing access control at the same time is cheaper than mobilising twice.
